How Human Solidarity Is Built

The Human Solidarity Project restores care providers from the inside out by addressing Toxic Groundwater. Our Model of Change rebuilds well-being, connection, and leadership through four healing stages that ripple outward from the individual to the community, creating Human Solidarity.

The Root Problem: Toxic Groundwater

Toxic Groundwater is the emotional residue, buried trauma, internalized narratives, self-doubt, and unspoken pressures formed over years of caregiving, crisis exposure, structural inequity, and unsupported emotional labor.

What creates Toxic Groundwater:

  • Emotional weight that accumulates over time
  • Buried stress and internalized pressures
  • Self-doubt and negative internal narratives
  • Unprocessed trauma from crisis exposure
  • The invisible toll of unsupported emotional labor

The consequence: When unaddressed, Toxic Groundwater leads to burnout, exhaustion, resentment, disconnection, and communication breakdown.

Four Stages of Transformation

Human Solidarity is built from the inside out. Each stage creates the foundation for the next, generating ripple effects that transform individuals, teams, institutions, and ultimately entire communities.

Stage 1: Inside-Out Healing

Restore the Individual

  • Release emotional weight
  • Process buried stress and internalized pressures
  • Rebuild authentic connection
  • Reclaim their sense of purpose
Outcome: Stronger, healthier individuals
Stage 2: Relational Transformation

Aligning the Team

  • Healthier communication
  • Reduced conflict
  • Increased psychological safety
  • Deeper trust and collaboration
Outcome: Aligned, cooperative, human-centered teams
Stage 3: Compassionate Systems

Transforming Institutions

  • More compassionate practices
  • Increased equity
  • Support for human well-being
  • Capacity to address injustice and disconnection
Outcome: Compassionate, justice-centered institutions
Stage 4: Rebuilt Trust

Supporting Communities

  • Increased trust in public systems
  • Reduced harm and injustice
  • Improved relationships with care providers
  • Higher collective emotional and social well-being
Outcome: Stronger, connected communities rooted in rebuilt trust
